You Are Not My Mother; Non-Human Spirit Seen

I recently moved from Northern to Southern California with my husband. We moved in with my parents in their Los Angeles home. We have a female cat, Stevie, and they have two boy cats, Charlie and Tommy. We have been keeping the cats separate with a cat fence (below) between the master bedroom and the hallway to the other bedrooms.

One night I watched as my mother opened and closed the gate behind her and went to her left into the master bedroom as I was coming out of the laundry room. I walked over and looked through the gate for her but she had gone into the master bathroom. I went through the gate and into the bathroom and found no one there. She wasn't in the bathroom or the bedroom. Nope.

And then the really strange thing happened. I closed my eyes as if to replay the memory I had of my mother just moments before going through the cat gate to the bedroom and in my mind's eye instead of seeing my mother entering the bedroom, there was this distorted, bloated being with my mother's face going through the gate. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. It was sort of hunched up into an overlapping form, doubled over on itself. I quickly found paper and pen and sketched what I had seen (below)

Also in my memory, the whole hallway was bathed in this golden shimmering light. I thought that I must have been hallucinating. I have no idea why my waking experience is different from the one that I remember. I have never had an alternate memory of something I observed. But either way I saw something that wasn't there.

I have seen human and animal spirits now and again but nothing was like this. This wasn't a human spirit/entity. I am very sensitive to my surroundings in terms paranormal energy, having grown up in a house with a key-jingling ghost. I know what the energy the dead give off feels like. This experience was so weird in too many ways. I have never felt bad energy or ghost energy in my parent's house. I didn't feel it when I saw the being in the hallway either. I don't know why I just know that this thing is a some kind of parasitic attachment to my mother, most likely feeding off her anxiety, which she has a lot of. I'm not sure why it chose to show itself to me, though, because now I'm anxious to cleanse this house and banish it forever.
